To replace a pair I had and used in Viet Nam and had for over 40 years. They are still a great foot wear and I'll have them until I cross over to the other side. Nothing can match them.I've never bought shoes online before and so I was definitely concerned that either 1) These wouldn't fit my feet right, 2) These wouldn't look like they do in the pictures compared to real life, and 3) They wouldn't be comfy or they would have some srange contour that didn't match my feet. These are some of my favorite shoes I've ever owned. That's a pretty big statement to make but i really do say that with all seriousness. First off - they look pretty darn cool, and the option to switch from boot-style to medium-back style is super easy and quick to do. I have found myself wearing these boot-style most of the time and this is not what I expected ha! The boot style just looks so cool and has a solid feel. Also, these things are appropriate to wear nearly anywhere and for almost all types of occasions. Going to work with a dress shirt and nice plants? Palladiums. Going on a dirty hike and need a sturdy grip? Palladiums. Going on a date? Palladiums. Store? Palladiums. Class? Palladiums. You can also wear these for a very long time!! Longer than any other shoe I've worn. I noticed this because my feet do not like to be put in shoes for long amounts of time, but these just felt great.I've only had them for a couple months but so far they seem to be lasting VERY well; they've taken quite a beating and still have a ton of life in them. Great pair of shoes/boots, and I highly, highly recommend them.I have been saving up for a pair of Palladium boots for a long time. I went with men's because they were less expensive and I thought they would be a little wider. I was excited to get them on, but was surprised how hard it was to put them on, my wool hiking socks were hung up in them because they were so tight in the arch where the tongue is sewn to the toe box. I wore them for about two hours in the house and had a ton of movement in the heel and the toe box was a whole 1/2" to 3/4" long on my foot. They were so tight across the arch I couldn't keep wearing them. I do not have especially high arches, I have never had a weird fit issue like this before. I got these in the early afternoon so I had been on my feet for about 7 hours. When I took off my shoes and socks I had a very deep, red indentation on my left foot, not my right though. It took a few hours to go away. I think I got a defective pair or that the way they fit are really strange. I did not want to keep them and hope for them to stretch as the rest of the shoe was too loose. I haven't run across fit issues like this in other men's shoes.I will try another pair of Palladium baggy boots this time women's to see if these issues resolve with gender or another pair.I took a picture of my left foot that had been squished to the point of pain, but can't find an upload button on the review editor right now, will try to post later..I've read reviews on palladium boots both men's and women's for a few years and felt pretty confident in my purchase, also my husband has a pair of these in that slate blue and black and he says they are very comfortable. I'm pretty frustrated I need to return theseEdit 05/06/2017: After almost three years of use, it is time to retire them and buy a new pair. I've gone on numerous hikes, skateboarded, and worn these through three winters. Amazingly, they still have tread. However, the canvas is tearing away from the sole along both sides of both boots, right around the ball of my foot. But they've lasted as long as any pair of boots that I've ever owned, so I'm upgrading them to a 5 star.Pros: This boot can be worn either above the ankle or buttoned up, which rests just below my mid-calf. It looks good either way. It is also surprisingly light-weight, which makes it ideal for hiking in (dry) climates. The stitching and construction is topnotch.Cons: As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bit snug, especially around the ball of the foot. I have medium width feet, and always buy regular width foot wear. That said, either I'm getting used to the fit or the boot is loosening up, because it doesn't bother me too much after a few days of wear. The only other gripe I had with this boot is that despite being canvas, my feet get fairly hot in these. My last pair of canvas boots (different brand) had small vents on the sides, which I am missing. The best boots I have ever put on my feet!!! Have worn Military boots, $200 and up boots and none compare to these lightweight boots. My only complaint is that I wish the ankle support came up a little higher on the sides and back, but still great boots. Buy them if you are reading this far!!!!!!!!! Your feet will thank you if you are used to wearing heavy hot boots!!!!!!!I had the shoes a few months, only wear them 1-3 times a month, now the heel stitches have unraveled. I have literally worn these less than 10 times and can’t return because of the time frame. The boot fits perfect at a half a size smaller. The problem at this size for me is that the sharp angle of the toe combined with the downward pressure of the rubbery edge at the toe squish my toes and edge of my foot to much and it becomes painful quickly. If the shoe were to come in a wider variety with these things in consideration then I would be able to wear the exact size I need. Also the heel is deceptively designed in that it looks higher than the ball of the boot but in fact sits a bit lower when your foot is in the shoe. As a result I had to get some heel inserts. Mostly because I love the design and comfort that I get after making a few adjustments as well as getting a size bigger to accommodate its short comings, as well as the great material and color variety, are the reasons why I love the boots themselves. If they were to ever fix those few significant short comings (especially by making the heel actually feel like a heel that's higher than the ball) I would give it a 5 stars. Also I bought this color so that I could dye it green because the green I wanted was sold out.My son liked the first pair of Palladium boots so much he ordered a second pair in a different colour a month later. He wears his shoes out pretty quickly and chose these for the sturdy rubber sole, they have proved to be very comfortable and he loves the style! Great price too, would thoroughly recommend! They fit very well and look fantastic. However my left shoe has developed a "crimp" on the ankle, causing it to dig in and be slightly uncomfortable. Strange how it is perfectly fine on my right foot. Even if this might disappear with time/wearing in, I do not think this should be necessary.Love these to bits - best boots I have bought in a long time & I was chuffed to bits with the delivery & the size was excellent. No problems at this end & highly recommended.Really impressed by these boots. They are light, comfortable and look great. Am considering buying a second pair in a different colour.Always wanted pair of palladium boots and can't believe how comfortable and robust these are
