One star simply because they are not worth the money. I bought these for working in a supermarket warehouse, and I also walk about 30,000 steps a day in these boots. Firstly, the lacing is terrible, you can't pull it tight properly, the laces slip and untie themselves over time, and they're just really badly done. Secondly the safety, I've ran over my foot near my toe with an electric mover and it offered no perceivable protection, fortunately it was only so bad that even trainers would have saved me so well. Thirdly, the toe cap is rubbish, I like to use my foot to help me lift things explosively off the ground, but the toe cap only covers literally the tip of my toes, if something fell onto my toes from above, my foot would be damaged but the very very tip of my toes might be OK.... Fourthly they are not comfortable, the inner lining has already ripped inside and caused blisters on my ankle, side of my leg and toe.I've literally worn these for 3 weeks...When I was in the army we had far better boots and they weren't much more expensive, I'd avoid these, I thought spending £60 would have gotten be an actually decent pair of boots. I was wrong, money down the drain until I can afford a better pair. Any recommendations?.Oh and I just remember, the leather is really thinupdate after like almost two years: they're ok... they workNot too bad at all. Good grips and a well padded shoe for winter walking, hiking or manual work outdoors. One of the big problems with magnums has always been that the grips wear down after a very short time though I haven't had them long enough to see this I can say from my former pair (which were a little higher than these advertised) that it is true.value and comfort wise these are a very good boot. As I say the grip does wear down quickly so you may find yourself buying a new pair soon.I would just like to add to this review which I made nearly 2 years ago now. Magnum have really improved on the grip of the boot and the grip is a lot better. Its much more durable, holds on ice (So if you work outdoors its a massive bonus) and its much more solid. The comfort level is also much better and the boot itself feels lighter than other similar boots. The major problem this time is the sponge at the rear of the boot that protects your achilles heel wears down quite badly so you almost end up with a triangle carved out of the boot. This doesnt really effect the boot much and for day to day use its really not much of a problem at all however if they sorted that out and got some decent quality material at the top rear of the boot I would be giving this 5 stars because they are one of the most comfortable boots I have worn.I have been wearing Magnum boots for many years, they are very comfortable and long lasting, bought these all leather boots for the winter, my personal choice is ankle boots as I find them more comfortable for driving.I started with Magnum Patrols 14 years ago, then for a change wore my PSU boots (far too clumpy for every day Police response work), so then went to Adidas GSG (nice lightweight boot, lasted a long time, but VERY expensive and a bit high up the leg for me). I finally returned to the original Magnum Patrols and forgot how much I liked them. I had to replace them however due to wearing away, so bought this pair. Probably due to product development, the new Patrols are just a tad taller, but nothing to worry about. I'm still wearing them in, but it's a good product and a must-have for bog standard response Police officers who don't have a big budget. These also came very quickly in the post. Thanks Amazon. This was the sixth pair of Magnum boots I've worn, and until now I've loved them all. These boots are still really uncomfortable after five months of wear. The biggest problem is that I have fairly narrow feet. The boots seem to stay on by latching on to my ankles with tight grip. This isn't great. As the boots wore in, a second problem arose. Something at the front of the boot pushes down uncomfortably on the top of my foot every time I take a step. These may be OK for you if you have wider feet than me but after five months of trying I'm giving up and buying a style that I know I like.
